Possiblity of Sanctions against the Elite in Iran?

The sanctions Miss Tehran regime elites

The international sanctions have to be more tailored to the elite of the Islamic Republic. Because there the political decisions are taken, where pressure must be exerted.By Lord George Weidenfeld

The world community may agree in their indignation against Iran's nuclear armament, but the recipes for a solution is still divided. Not only Russia and China are opposed to a military solution. You are supported by India, South Africa (all candidate for a permanent seat in the Security Council of the United Nations), when the controversial R Word (regime change) in the country of the mullahs on the table. Since the weapon of ever stricter economic sanctions remains still the only acceptable compromise position.
Even in the immediately endangered Israel St intrinsically political experts in the camp of Nachrichtendiensts and the army, the tightening of sanctions as the best means to see, to inside Iran's regime hard to harm and even to overthrow. But here there is stuff many holes. American and European companies that directly or medium should maintain some business with Iran, belong to the pillory.

Generous Norway

Iran's regime elite send their children to train to Europe. Four hundred children of senior officials 2010 studied in the UK. The number in Europe is many times higher. On the other hand, the anti-Mullah Europe granted very few Iranian refugees green movement refuge. The small Norway is much more generous than Germany or Britain.

The refugees of the green movement in Turkey has still not been resolved. About 3000 to 4000 Iranians continue to wait for the recognition of their status. The living conditions under the exiled Iranians in Turkey are difficult. Many fear to be deported in the Iran, they have no work permit and can move freely in the country.

Ineffective sanctions

It is clear that the sanctions so far not directly met the elite of the Iranian regime. This group has access to hard currency, good connections in the Iranian power apparatus and exploits it for their personal purposes, such as for example the training of their children in Europe.
The international sanctions have to be more tailored to the elite of the Islamic Republic. There the political decisions are taken, where pressure must be exerted if one can still hope that it comes to a give in the nuclear negotiations. That the elite of the regime is better treated as refugees of the Green opposition in the Iran is bizarre and illogical. If access to Europe is granted the elite, this should also apply to the refugees of the green movement.
