Employee Surveys

Each major corporation measures employee satisfaction. This is a normal procedure that corporations conduct annually as it measures the overall morale of the company. The surveys are a good measure for the HR executive team to focus on the strengths and weaknesses of managers and the company as a whole. Therefore, it becomes vital for all employees to provide your most honest opinions. Most surveys do not require the names of the employees. Therefore, you should be completely honest.

Also, when taking these surveys be considerate and fair. It is human nature to simply "trash" the company for personal reasons (i.e. not receiving a raise, bad manager, etc). However, be fair with all aspects. If specific managerial questions are asked then provide good feedback about your manager or direct supervisor. Also be considerate and offer solutions if possible. Remember to every problem there is a solution. A survey will further measure how well you feel you are satisfied with the company benefits. Benefits can include retreats, team building exercises, dinners, lunches, gift cards, etc. Do not forget the "good" and appreciate things that the company does. Also, benefits are perks in this economy. If you are getting a 401(k) and match, health care benefits, flexible spending, etc, then please consider these as perks. There are a lot of companies in the US that do not provide any health care benefits, or 401(k) due to the recent economic status.

The surveys are to measure your satisfaction in your company. Honest and fair results will help the HR team collaborate and make changes accordingly. This is a good solid tool used to measure your happiness!! It should be taken seriously.

  2. Use the data. Employee satisfaction data is a very important data set. It can be analyzed with other data to uncover valuable insight. For example, correlating employee satisfaction data with performance scores and turnover can tell you if you are at risk for losing your highly engaged and high performers. Wouldn't that be nice to know?
