Will.i.am.: Racism and Education

In a recent episode of Piers Morgan on CNN, the issue of racism and education was discussed by Will.i.am, Deepak Chopra, Princess Ameerah, and General Wesley Clark members of the Clinton Global Initiative. The panel was very knowledgeable, passionate, and ready to take on this pledge to fight for human rights, overcome racism and create a strong initiative of education globally.

The discussion did arise with Will.i.am regarding race and education. In addition, race and employment was also discussed. The panel did discuss the need to overcome racism through education. However, the reality that exists is that the U.S. is living in a Marxist world.

What is Marxism? Well Marx was a theorist who theorized that the poor, who is also the mass or majority, will always work for the wealthy. If wealthy will reap the benefits from the poor. However, the fruits of labor created by production is what luxury income that will make the rich wealthier and the poor will never break through the cycle of poverty. For example, the poor because they are not fully skilled, or educated will always work more for less money. The wealthy will benefit from cheaper labor. The poor will create a product, which will cost the wealthy pennies. The wealthy will turn it around and sell it for double the value. The excess amount is known as the fruits of labor. Also, the poor will continue to spend more money than the wealthy. Why? Because they desire to live like the rich.

In modern day, the working class is the mass. Therefore, they have less skill and education. So the working class will work hard so that the wealthy (also known as investors) will continue to profit from the fruits of labor. The fruit is the excess revenue earned when a product is sold at double its value. Think about it. The majority desire to have a bag by Fendi, Channel, and all the other brand name materials that the rich can afford. So the working class will spend loads of money to buy these brands. Thus, the cycle of the mass working for the rich continues.

Racism also plays a major role. Racism exists very clearly in the U.S. today. Although it may not be so prevalent depending on where you live, but nonetheless it exists. Therefore, if you are poor, belonging to a racial minority, and does not have many skills, then you will not be able to get an extremely high paying job. Thus, the cycle of the mass working for the wealthy continues.

The purpose of this blog is to understand that education is the key to break through this cycle of the working class. It doesn't matter what race you belong to. What matters is that you become educated with a college degree, and a post graduate certificate in any discipline in order to break through this cycle, and learn that material needs are not relevant on a day to day basis. If the mass spent their money on education vs. luxurious desires such as a Fendi bag, then they have the ability to break through the cycle of the working class. This is what was not discussed in the show. This is the point that I want to make. In the U.S., primary schools are lacking strong education in comparison to the rest of the world. The federal government due to budget constraints are not pouring more money into education at the elementary level. Therefore, if parents take the initiative to teach their children and do homework with their kids, then the combination of education at school and home can help a child become well advanced. With education, racism can be battled. If minorities also succeed in high levels of college degrees, etc. then their future can look very bright. However, the initiative must be taken with the parents.
